Truffle Hunting & Barolo tasting

Discover the secrets and the traditional techniques in an authentic search of the precious white or black truffle with a professional “Trifolao” and his inseparable dog. You will understand how, where and why truffles grow in our area, how dogs are trained, you will learn the differences between white and black truffles and enjoy their intense aroma. You will meet your guide near Alba, then be driven through the surrounding hills to reach the “Trifolao” in one of its secret spots in the middle of nature. After the hunt you can enjoy a wine tasting in a typical family-run winery where you will taste different wines including the renowned Barolo, accompanied by small samples of typical and local products such as salami or cheese and breadsticks. The tour can be shared with other guests or as a private. For this activity you will need a car to move between Alba, the wood, and the winery. Transfer can be provided on request.

Duration: about 3 hours and half to 4 hours.
White truffle season: from 21 September to 31 January.
Black truffle season: different types in different times of the year.

Truffles found during the hunt are not included but can be purchased from Trifolao directly. During the autumn season, warm and comfortable clothing is recommended, raincoats and rubber boots are available.

Alba walking & tasting

Exclusive food and wine tour with numerous tastings break in Alba historical centre accompanied by a certified tour guide!

Discover the culinary traditions of Piedmont, one of Italy’s most renowned culinary scenes, our traditional recipes and the ancient roots of our history. This unique experience includes stops at an ancient bakery, small shops producing cheeses, salami and truffle products, a local delicatessen, and a historic café, to offer you a full immersion through food, art and history. Our gastronomic tour includes the most relevant see sight and corners of the city, alternating history and art with different tastings (cheese, salami, 2 starters, truffle products, 1 pasta (agnolotti al plin or tajarin), hazelnut desserts or chocolate truffles, coffee or ice cream, water, breadsticks and 2 glasses of wine. The amount of food tasted exceeds that of a real lunch!

This is an ideal experience for a complete introduction to the Langhe culinary scene. This gastronomic tour not only offers the chance to taste quality food but also to fully appreciate our culture, discovering ancient ingredients and the connection between food and history.

Painting lesson with wine & aperitif

With this unique experience you will have the chance to paint with a local artist in her “bottega” in the heart of the Langhe, discovering her secrets and learning this unique technique: how to pour wine on paper making ART!!!

You’ll discover how it begins the creative process that produces the final work of art starting from a simple stain, respecting nature and underlining the uniqueness of colour of wine.

After the lesson you will enjoy a typical Italian “aperitivo” in a nearby wine shop. More than a simple drink, the aperitif is the quintessence of the Italian lifestyle, a friendly moment spent in good company to relax in front of a good glass of excellent wine accompanied by delicious snacks.

Truffle hunting starting from Alba

Scoprite i segreti, le tecniche tradizionali in una vera caccia al prezioso tartufo bianco o nero con un “Trifolao” professionista e il suo inseparabile cane. Capirete come, dove e perché crescono i tartufi nella nostra zona, imparerete le differenze tra il tartufo bianco e quello nero, godrete del suo profumo intenso e costante, capirete il grado di maturazione di un tartufo dal vostro naso. Incontrerete Margherita alla stazione ferroviaria di Alba, poi sarete condotti sulle colline delle Langhe circostanti per ammirare il suggestivo panorama, passeggiando, godendovi la natura e naturalmente cercando il tartufo!

Il transfert non è incluso, quindi seguite la guida con la vostra auto per incontrare il tartufaio (15/20 minuti dal centro di Alba). Il trasporto viene fornito su richiesta.

I tartufi trovati durante la caccia non sono inclusi ma si possono acquistare dal cacciatore. Gli stivali di gomma sono disponibili su richiesta. Dopo la ricerca è possibile avere una degustazione di cibo nel bosco (o all’interno) con un costo aggiuntivo. Può includere salumi, formaggi, creme al tartufo, vino, acqua e altre prelibatezze locali.

Panoramic aperitif on a medieval tower

A unique and exclusive experience of its kind thanks to the breath-taking view that can be enjoyed from the top of a medieval tower at a height of 28 meters (92 feet) immersed in the heart of the Langhe. A union of pleasures for the palate and food and wine insights directly in the company of a natural spectacle. On the top of the medieval tower (built in the 12th century) an amazing 360° panorama extends from the Roero to the Langa giving a glimpse of the plain before Cuneo and Turin up to the show of the mountain range of the Alps from which the stone giant Monviso stands out. Access will always be guided with an introduction on the “Alta Langa” area, history, local products, and main characteristics. You will enjoy a tasting aperitif served on an elegant table decorating with candle, flowers and vintage table setting.

The “aperitivo” is based on rustic bread, salami, hazelnut crackers, local cheeses and a glass of wine (1 bottle for 2 persons). The tower can also be completely reserved for a light lunch or a light dinner (maximum 10 people).

Hiking & wine tour starting from Alba

The hiking tour starting from the town of Alba passes through the hills surrounding the town providing hikers with a privileged viewpoint to enjoy a panorama overlooking the surrounding hills and valleys. In the middle of the walk, right at the top of the hill, the winery awaits you for a delicious wine tasting with small samples of traditional local products. Wine assumes a unique importance in this region. The Piedmontese wine-growing landscape is undoubtedly one of the most harmonious and coherent with a rural but “scenic” landscape, accentuated by the rolling hills that offer many views and panoramas with different nuances. This tour is especially suitable for those who arrive in Alba without a car and use public transport. It is also recommended for people in good health who are used to walking uphill. Appropriate footwear and shoes are recommended. 

Length: about 6 km – 3.7 mi. – Height difference: 350 m – 1148 ft. The winery can change following the availability.

Harvest experience and wine tasting

If you want to learn how grape juice is transformed into wine, you can do it in this “vendemmiaexperience that you can enjoy in the Langhe Region during the harvest season (September/October). It is a wonderful way to learn a lot about the local wine and the local culture working side by side with a winemaker. You can touch with your hands what this unique and important moment of the year. This activity will take place on a family run wine estate where you can see the process of wine making and taste some excellent local wines served with bites of local products (breadsticks, salami and cheese).

You will meet the guide at the meeting point and then together you will go to the farm where the winemaker will also provide information about the plants and the cultivation of the vines before starting the collection of grapes. After this activity you can visit the winery to understand the wine-making process in detail. Finally, you will enjoy a tasting of some wines produced by the winery.

In case of rain the picking of the grapes in the fields won’t be confirmed but, only in this case, after visiting and tasting you will have 1 bottle of wine as a gift. For this experience you will need your own car to get to the winery. Transfer can be provided on request.

Hill tour & wine tasting

L’ITINERARIO: iniziando con le previste istruzioni di base su come usare e controllare il Segway, prima che ve ne accorgiate vi stavate lentamente facendo strada attraverso il centro storico e poi vi siete fatti strada su per le colline godendovi le colline delle Langhe, paesaggi bellissimi. È un ottimo modo per fare un tour di Alba e dei vigneti che circondano la città. Qui inizierete un viaggio alla scoperta di tutte le fasi di produzione del vino e potrete degustare alcuni vini (la durata della visita in cantina è di circa 1 ora). Gli ultimi 30-40 minuti saranno dedicati al ritorno in città.

Non ci sono restrizioni di età minima, tuttavia i cavalieri devono essere alti almeno 134 cm e di peso superiore a 40 kg e inferiore a 117 kg. I partecipanti non dovrebbero assolutamente pedalare se sono incinte
